Learn more about your Visa Credit Card.
What are the Frequently Asked Questions?
When will I get my new Meijer CU Visa credit card?
Cards are being mailed on Monday October 20th, 2025. You should receive your new card shortly after that.
When can I activate my new Visa credit card?
You can activate your new card immediately upon receipt and it will start working.
How do I activate my new Visa credit card?
There will be a sticker on the front of the card that will give you the number to call to activate.
If I currently have a Visa credit card from Meijer CU, will my card number change?
Yes, your credit card number and expiration date will change. Any recurring payments via your old credit card will need to be updated (i.e. insurance, utilities, fitness club, streaming services or subscription services, etc.).
Do I have to request a new Visa credit card or will it come automatically?
You will automatically receive a new Visa credit card in the mail during the roll out period, so you do not need to request anything.
What should I do once I receive my new card?
Upon receipt, activate your new credit card using the phone number available on the card.
Are there costs or fees associated with replacing my Visa card?
There is no fee associated with getting your new credit card. If, in the future, you need to replace a lost card, it may be subject to a replacement fee.
How long can I continue to use my old Meijer CU credit card?
Your current credit card will stop working on November 2nd, so you will want to activate your new card as soon as you receive it to avoid losing access.
Will I be without a credit card?
No, your new credit card should arrive well before the cutoff of your current card. However, if your address is not up to date in the credit union’s system prior to the card mailing, that may cause the card to get lost in the mail. Please contact Member Service at (616) 784-4822 if you do not receive your card by October 29th.
I have merchants that charge my old Meijer CU credit card monthly. Will I have to notify those merchants?
(Ex. Netflix, insurance companies, Amazon, Apple, utilities) Yes, you need to contact or update all merchants with which you have automatic charges or card information on file using your current card and provide them your new Visa credit card information. This will not apply to merchants that do recurring ACH charges/fees that come straight from a checking or savings account, only to those that keep your credit card information on file.
Will my limits change?
No, limits will remain the same.
If I have overdraft services, will I have to re-opt in with my new credit card?
No; your overdraft services will not be affected and will continue to work throughout the conversion and after.
Will this impact my Meijer Credit Union debit card?
No. This transition only impacts those members who currently hold a Meijer Credit Union credit card.
What is the difference between my Visa debit and a Visa credit card?
Visa debit is directly linked to your checking account. When you use your Visa debit, the funds are withdrawn from your checking account. Visa credit allows you to borrow money and repay it later.
What should I do with my old credit card?
Your old Meijer CU credit card can be destroyed, shredded or returned to any branch for destruction.
How will cash back rewards work?
Cashback rewards are a new feature that will be present on all Meijer Credit Union cards. You do not need to do anything to enroll or activate these benefits. You will begin receiving cash back on purchases made in the month of October with payments being made into your share account at the end of each month.
What happens to my old rewards points?
The credit union’s old rewards provider, Scorecard Rewards, is being replaced by a new cash back rewards program that is tied directly to your card and your Meijer CU membership. If you had accumulated points at Scorecard Rewards, you will have until the end of November to redeem those points. Please see the Scorecard Rewards website to check your points before they expire.
What happens if I don’t activate my card?
Current Meijer CU credit card holders who do not activate their credit cards will lose access to credit card services at Meijer Credit Union.
Will I be able to upload my card to my mobile wallet on my electronic devices?
Yes! This is a new feature for Meijer CU credit cards. You can upload your card to your mobile wallet and use your phone (or other devices) to pay for things.
What will happen if I have disputed a charge or fraud on my old card?
If you have a pending dispute or fraud case, Meijer CU will continue to work that case on your behalf like normal. You do not need to do anything.

Common Issues for Members
I called to activate my card, but the automated system says my information is incorrect.
The automated system will use the personal information of the primary card holder. If you and your spouse (or someone in your house) happen to share a credit card, then use the information of the person who’s name is on the card to activate. If you still have trouble, call us at (616) 784-4822.
I missed the communication and didn’t activate my new card before my old one shut off.
No problem. You can activate your new card anytime after you have received it.
